6th October 1942
Arne Sonhar is a mapmaker working for the resistance in German occupied Norway. Having convinced the British government to evacuate him and his heavily pregnant wife he is betrayed by a fellow countryman and forced to kill a German Officer. In the shoot out, his wife is wounded and left bleeding heavily. With enemy troops advancing on all sides, Arne makes it to the boat just in time. He entrusts his wife - and his maps - into the care of a British commando before turning to face the soldiers alone.
Hans Traumen is 27 and one of the most experienced Uboat captains of his day. However, when Traumen ignores his crew’s wishes and orders them to investigate a suspicious ship, a fierce battle ensues leaving him trapped in his submarine as it sinks to the bottom of a Norwegian bay.
6th October 1991
Gunnar Sonhar comes home for the first time in 30 years to visit his adopted father's graveside. Whilst there he is approached by the old man's lawyer and given a briefcase containing a photograph, an old German pistol and an encoded map. But, before he can unravel the mystery, he is shot and left for dead by an enemy of his real father.
As Gunnar takes his last breath, he is approached by Hans Traumen, still dressed in his old military uniform and babbling about a very important mission.
